Deleting your information
You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you at any time, and it costs nothing. This page tells you exactly how.
What to tell us
- Your name.
- The telephone number or email address you used when you contacted us — this is how we find your record.
- If you contacted us through Instagram or Facebook, the username you used.
We may ask one question to confirm it is really you. This is to protect you: we will not delete a person's record on somebody else's say-so.
What happens next
| Step | When |
|---|---|
| We confirm we have received your request | Within 2 working days |
| We find every record connected to you and delete it | Within 30 days |
| We write to you to confirm what was deleted, and anything we had to keep | When it is done |
What we may have to keep
If you have bought a vehicle from us, Ugandan law does not allow us to erase everything. The Tax Procedures Code Act requires us to keep sale, payment and tax records for five years after the end of the tax period, and vehicle registration records must match what is held by the Uganda Revenue Authority.
In that case we delete everything we are not obliged to keep — marketing lists, enquiry history, notes, and your contact details for any purpose other than the legal record — and we tell you plainly what remains and why. Once the five years have passed, that too is deleted.
If you have only made an enquiry and not bought anything, everything is deleted.
Stopping messages without deleting everything
If you simply do not want to hear from us again, you do not have to delete your record. Reply STOP to any message, or tell us, and we will stop contacting you while keeping the record we are legally required to hold.
If you are not satisfied
Tell us and we will look again. You also have the right to complain to the Personal Data Protection Office, Uganda's data protection regulator, at pdpo.go.ug.
